![]() It's actually a very clever design and deletes the need for market specific parts. The horizontal tracer line connects the 3 blinker chambers, so they can be regarded as one unit, which is also required in certain markets for a sequential blinker to be legal. ![]() They managed to do this by splitting the vertical chambers in a top and a bottom half and using the bottom halves for amber sequentials (instead of red) while keeping the regular or brake lights in the top halves active while blinking. Now they have designed a universal solution that has sequential blinking and still complies with all regulations worldwide. The current sequential red blinker function on the US spec real Mustang does not comply with this and that is why Ford developed an export spec variation (the clear ones) without the sequential option for cars that are sold outside the US or Canada. I may get scolded (wouldn't be the first time LOL) for mixing years and making assumptions but no one else has jumped in and I'd like to be any help I can be.This has to do with regulations in certain countries where it is not permitted to have the regular taillight function to disappear while the blinker is on. Too bad your not near me, I fix little automotive switches all the time. ![]() It is unlikely the switch is worn out - how much cold it have been used? Or if you don't want to get into it, sometimes you can find them on fleabay. It may be bad but more likely you can take it apart burnish the contacts just as I did. If you confirm voltage is present from the from signals, the switch is the cause. 1 answer Were is the turn signal relay in a 1997 ford thunderbird The Flasher is located behind LH side of the instrument panel, left of steering column, it i snot a can like the old ones, it is a black box about the 1/2 the size of a pack of cigarettes. 2 and 3 at the flasher switch go to the front signals, you could verify the wiring by removing the switch, turning on each turn signal and looking for voltage at the connections to the switch. After a light burnishing with a pencil eraser, it has worked perfectly ever since. I can imagine any of these switches that sit without use long enough would do the same thing. I could tell it had never been used and when I took it apart, I found the tiny brass contacts in it were tarnished enough that they wouldn't conduct. I bought a NOS switch only to find it didn't work. I confess that I don't have a manual for a 66 so maybe someone here can confirm the wiring per they're own manual? So it connects all three together and then applies power via a flasher to them. I checked the wiring diagram for the 65 and it looks like the wiring is similar in that the switch "shorts" a wire from each front turn signal to a wire from the brake light circuit. Soon after I installed them, my coil failed and left me sitting on the side of a narrow road. resistorsThunderbird diagram ford wiring 1963 windows window 1964 power control manual manuals car other relay Ford thunderbird emergency flasher relay, 4. Since the rears work I suspect you have connection problem someplace. Yes, the switch doesn't just turn things on, it connects the circuits form the front turn signals and rear brake lights to the flasher.
